The Top 10 Guitar Sites In Over 20 Different Categories

A Chord Book & So Much More…

http://www.chordbook.com OK this is not only good content but far more entertaining to use. It’s got loads of tools and goodies to play with.

You can actually build you own chord and then search the database to see what i’ts actually called (if anything at all!).

You can also strum the chord to hear what is sounds like, both in acoustic and electric guitar sounds. And you can change the speed of the strum. There’s also the facility to create your own mini chord library, or chord book online.

Also you can add a Capo and then position it anywhere on the fretboard. Hours of fun. And educational.

Guitar Tabs Mini Directory

http://www.guitartabs.net This is not so much a Guitar Tab site, it’s actually like a mini directory of other tab sites. So whilst on one hand it’s very useful as a resource, on the other hand it’s yet even more links and maybe time wasted and increased frustration. Anyway we’ve included this site at the moment for those who just love guitar surfing.

Editor comments: A score of 8 from us.

Simple Guitar Tabs

http://www.xguitar.com This one is pure Tabs. No extras, articles, blogs or Forum. But all the information is clearly laid out. One thing we really liked is that by selecting an artist, you can then see a chronology of their albums, and/or songs. The Tabs are all clearly set out as well. Overall nice clean guitar tabs site, which actually makes a refreshing change from all the very busy sites covered in ads and pop ups.

Editor comments: An overall score of 12 from us. The clean and simple layout really helps.

Guitar Tabs For Movie Themes

http://www.guitarmasta.net This site may not be as easy to navigate as some of the other tab sites, but does have one rather unique aspect to it. From the home page you can link to tabs from Theme Songs Tabs, from both television or the Movies. So if you fancy learning anythings from 007 to Harry Potter, then this is the site for you! My only criticism is the lack of any user rating so it’s not easy to really tell if the tabs are any good.

Editor comments: A score of 14 from us - just for the Movie Themes!.

Guitar Tabs - Get It Right!

http://www.mxtabs.net/guitar_tabs A good clean site with a large archive of Tabs. There’s a really useful bit on writing Guitar Tabs as well. Complete with Forum and Blog there’s definitely a good community of guitarists visiting this site. Again, the comments always make interesting reading. Try looking at the one for Greenday’s ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’ - all 80 comments!

Editor comments: A score of 13 from us. Definitely a vocal community when it comes to commenting on other guitarists Tabs!

Guitar Tabs with attitude

http://www.guitartabs.cc

Hundreds of tabs on this site. It also has two features which make this a good tab site. Firstly is the ability to select the tabs by user rating, and the second is the Forum. Oh, and also you can add comments on the tabs once you’ve registered. Again, the comments often make for amusing reading. A few that l read seemed to get into some really heated discussion. But the user rating system in good and clear and does make deciding on which guitar tab to go for much easier.

Editor comments: A score of 14 from us. Check out some of the user comments.

Guitar Tabs, Chords, & Lyrics from Chordie

http://www.chordie.com Although this site seems to just take content from another Tab site, there are some really neat tools here to go along with the Tabs. These allow you to change font size so you can read them easily, and also transpose the chords, and fianlly it’s all set up for easy printout. Great! In addition to the Tabs, there’s also an extensive chord library in the Resources section.

Editor comments: An overall score of 14 from us. We really liked the additional tools.

Guitar Tabs 911

http://www.911tabs.com

With something like 2.3 million tabs, this probably has the be the largest of the Tabs databases. However quantity may not equal quality. But with this number of tabs, it probably at least makes for a good starting point. Also there are tabs for Bass, Drums and Piano. On the tabs we looked at, there was also a nice simple rating system, and some playing notes. There is also a provision for commenting, but not many comments for the tabs we checked out.

World Of Guitar Tabs

http://tabs.guitarworld.com

Coming from Guitar World you’d probably expect it was good. And it is. A really cool looking interface and the option for either Guitar Tabs, or Bass Tabs, plus links to videos makes this site one that you’ll want to come back to. Obviously there’s also no shortage of News and Articles from the magazine side of things. But the tabs theselves are easy to navigate to, and have one feature which i think makes this site stand out above the others, and that is th link provided so that you can see the tab, and then a selection of videos of people playing the song. Admittedly these are just from YouTube, but they are a great addition. Other sites should take note.

Editor comments: This site scored a 16 from us. The addition of the videos really makes it.

Ultimate Guitar Tabs

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com

Very professional site with some nice additional content with News, Interviews and Columns. In additional to all this there’s also a Forum. I liked the fact that there a multiple versions of the same song tab from different people, so hopefully one of them’s got it right! Also you can post comments to any of the tabs, which often makes for amusing reading as people always seem to disagree on who’s got the right version.

Editor comments: We gave it 16 for all the additional content.
