Research Criteria – Musical Focus
Within our Research we felt one of the first categories we wanted to identify, was what is the focus of your searching, or what do you want to learn do do, or play on guitar? On order to narrow down the search, we arrived at three criteria:
1. Teaching the basics of how to play
Within this category we are generally looking at guitar products, guitar advice, tips, guitar lessons etc that are all aimed at Beginners. This generally goes from total Beginner Guitarist - ie how to hold the guitar, right through to playing barre chords, and learning some music theory.
2. Techniques & styles for intermediate guitarists
This category is the next step on, and more aimed at Beginner to Intermediate Guitarists, who are looking to move on to the next level. Here, the focus is generally more on guitar riffs, playing guitar solos, playing different guitar styles suchs as Blues, Jass, Funk etc.
3. Learning complete songs
And the final category sort of crosses both these, but it's to group sites that are focused on teaching complete songs. This goes right from playing three 'open chord' songs, right through to learning the complex lead solos, however the focus s to learn the complete song rather than techniques and styles. The reason for seperating this criteria out is that from our analysis, this account for a large percentage of searches within the play guitar sector.
